There are many areas where these therapies work specifically on conditions, such as Reflexology for infertility or NLP for behavioural and emotional issues.
Sometimes, I will use a combination of tools, to get the ultimate outcome.
My specialist fields are infertility, pregnancy and childbirth, dealing with the physical, as well as, mental and emotional issues connected to this. Anxiety Management, Anger Management, Depression, Bereavement Counselling, Emotional Breakdown, Phobias and Behavioural Coaching.
In my Occupational Health role, I focus on phased return to work for employees after physical and emotional issues. I use many of the above tools for this type of work. I work for many of the Occupational Health companies in the East of England area. I also have contracts with many of the District & County Councils as a Coach & Counsellor for professional and emotional wellbeing of their employees.
What is Coaching?
Coaching is about “the now and the future”. A Coach gives people the confidence & ability to move forward in a positive manner in the areas of their life where they crave change. Coaching is about breaking down barriers that prevent this change from happening & creating the ideal environment for positive action to take place. It is a totally holistic approach that looks at the present and sets goals for a totally successful future.
Coaching begins with an awareness that every human is born with the ability to be, do or have, whatever they want in life. By the time we become adults, many of us have lost this ability. But, eventually, we experience the feeling that our lives are drifting off course & that “there must be something better than this”.
Coaching is a professional & personal relationship between the coach & the client. It is a completely practical skill, underpinned by a good knowledge. Understanding the theories & applications of personal development encourages people to change their lives.
Coaching can be used in every aspect of life from work, relationships, parenting, teaching, sport and motivating others to succeed. “If you always do - what you have always done – you will always get - what you’ve always got”.
Change is a scary prospect to many people but by coaching, you can support, encourage & help people to adapt and feel comfortable of out their ‘Comfort Zone’!.
What is NLP?
You could think of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) as an owner's manual for the human brain. It's the study of how we think, feel and act, marked by an intense curiosity about how (rather than why) human beings get the results they do
It was developed by Psychotherapists & Hypnotherapists to share information and insights across disciplinary boundaries. It incorporates insights from behavioural and Gestalt psychology, family therapy, hypnotherapy, linguistics, information theory & anthropology, among many other disciplines.
Unlike some other schools of psychotherapeutic thought, which concentrate on how problems arise, NLP started from studying people who are exceptionally good at what they do, and finding out how they do it so that anyone can get similar results by doing the same things.
It aims to move beyond remedial change (fixing specific problems) to 'generative' change, which empowers you to achieve more in every area of your life. Often people find that when they learn a new skill or make a breakthrough in one area of their life, problems in other areas seem to disappear or seem less important.
By studying how 'star performers' in every field achieve their results, the developers of NLP have built up a hard drive of knowledge about what works in every field of human endeavour. You can apply the knowledge resulting from this curiosity to help others, to become more successful in your work, your personal life or even to tap into your own hidden resources.
What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a psychotherapy based on modifying everyday thoughts and behaviours, with the aim of positively influencing emotions. The general approach developed out of behaviour modification and Cognitive Therapy, and has become widely used to treat mental disorders.
The particular therapeutic techniques vary according to the particular kind of client or issue, but commonly include keeping a diary of significant events and associated feelings, thoughts and behaviours; questioning and testing assumptions or habits of thoughts that might be unhelpful & unrealistic; gradually facing activities which may have been avoided; and trying out new ways of behaving and reacting. Relaxation and distraction techniques are also commonly included. CBT is widely accepted as an evidence-based, cost-effective psychotherapy for many disorders.
My passion for people and that is what drives me forward as a Therapist and Coach, whether mentally, emotionally or physically. I have always worked in people-centred industries and believe this has really helped me with my therapy work over the years.
In my personally life, I have two daughters aged 18 and 20 who live in Norwich, a partner who shares my passion for country life and people (a Coach too!!) and an amazing horse, who keeps me sane (my therapy!!).
